Tackling Internalized Anti-Blackness and Anti-Black Racism

Our “Unlearning Your Own Anti-Blackness” courses only have a few weeks left! Students in all three courses have been respectful and taken the time to truly self-reflect on their internalized anti-blackness, which is present in all of us.

Some of the topics we’ve covered across the courses we offer are:

  • Black Female Stereotypes

  • The Tenets of Critical Race Theory

  • Colorism

  • Defining Whiteness and Blackness

  • Social Consequences vs. Social Taxes vs. Social Privileges

  • Domestic Workers - How the “Mammy” Stereotype Led to the “Maria” Stereotype

If we, as a society, wish to put an end to white supremacy and institutionalized racism, the first step is recognizing how anti-blackness is engrained in all of us, regardless of race or nationality. While the experience of Black Americans may be unique, the dislike towards Black people as a whole is global.

The next session of our classes will begin sometime in Spring 2022.
