Our Mission

When/ Why were we founded?

People Matter was founded in the cold Chicago winter of 2019. We were created to address the problem of people not having input in their own community’s future.

Mission

Our mission is to Uplift, Unearth, and Untether people. We are doing this through direct service, political education, and issue advocacy work. We ask/survey people on what they want to see in their community, and we build projects based on the results we obtain from community members. Through the projects, we create and cultivate community leaders to do the work that they see fit for their own communities. 

The communities we serve are Armour Square, Bronzeville, Bridgeport, Chinatown, Douglas, McKinley Park, Fuller Park, and Pilsen. We are expanding as we build capacity and coalitions with other community organizations.
