Volunteer Organizing
($19 per hour/ 20-29 hours/week . Note there is a possibly of full-time role after 6 months as well as a pay increase once hired full-time)
Requirements:
1 year of organizing experience
Experience with planning events
6 months of Recruitment experience.
Familiar with grant writing & fundraising.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Great time management skills
Communication, de-escalation, and emotional intelligence skills
Duties:
Advertising volunteer opportunities
Organizing, Maintaining, and Compiling records of volunteers through Excel or Google sheets.
Keep volunteer calendar up to date and share email invitations with new events
Interviewing and selecting the best volunteers compatible with our organization
Providing or arranging appropriate training for skill volunteers lack or need
Leading volunteer events such as volunteer socials and volunteer actions
Running projects and events to attract new volunteers
Create and maintain volunteer newsletters
Create a year plan for volunteers filled with activities
Managing budgets for volunteer events, etc.
Liaising with organizations needing volunteers
Youth Organizer
($20 per hour/ 20-29 hours/week . Note there is a possibly of full-time role after 6 months as well as a pay increase once hired full-time)
Requirements:
At least 1.5 years of Youth Organizing
At least 21 years of age, has a driver license, and able to do a background check
Experience working in or with Chicago Public Schools system
Familiarity with Restorative Justice
Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese (Preferred Mandarin or Cantonese)
Experience working with at-risk youth of color
Time management skills
Communication, de-escalation, and emotional intelligence skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Duties:
Outreach and recruit youth to join program
Facilitate/ Lead youth-led programming within organization
Create youth programming curriculum and develop/ maintain current and new programming
Provide educational workshops for youth such as Professional Development, Civic Engagement, Issue advocacy, What is a campaign, What is Social Justice, etc. Lead Youth Gardening program such as organizing content, building and implementing curriculum, and managing other facilitators during programming
Develop relationships with youth, parents, teachers, and school administration to build a healthy learning ecosystem
Create and implement a Community Survey to assess Community youth needs
Manage and create youth budget that is both affordable for organization and impactful for youth
Support Grants Manager about youth program evaluation, grant follow-up and some grant-writing and fundraising as needed
Coordinate with Administrative staff about youth stipends and payroll
Coordinate with community partners about youth program administration such as work permits, venue bookings, guest speakers, etc.
Other duties as needed to reach organizational goals
Housing Organizer
($21 per hour/ 20-29 hours/week . Note there is a possibly of full-time role after 6 months as well as a pay increase once hired full-time)
Requirements:
1.5- 2 year of housing organizing experience
Experience in housing law and policy
Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese (Preferred: Bilingual Mandarin or Cantonese)
Familiar with grant writing and fundraising
Knowledgeable of housing resources (CHA, Section 8, Housing Justice Organizations, Shelters, housing programs)
Great time management skills
Communication, de-escalation, and emotional intelligence skills
Duties
Build relationships with community members, housing organizations, and elected officials
Outreach community by door-knocking and phone banking
Create and implement Community Survey to assess needs of community members
Analyze survey data using Microsoft Excel and other programs
Develop leadership among community members and residents with daily empowerment and one-on-one or group support
Create and implement housing rights and leadership development workshops
Help develop housing campaigns with Co-presidents, community members, and partner organizations and help to track and run campaign
Help coordinate coalition efforts and build relationships with housing organizing across the city and state
Support Grants Manager with housing organizing evaluation, follow-up on grant deliverables, and some grant-writing and fundraising as needed
Support administrative duties such as collecting and organizing sign-in sheets and meeting minutes, writing emails, coordinating stipends for workshop and program attendees, track attendance, and completing documentation as needed
