Holiday Black-Owned Business Shoutouts
For the remainder of the 2021 Holidays, we wanted to highlight some local, Black-owned businesses who are also giving back to their communities. Consider shopping with them this holiday season!
First we’d like to shoutout Stone Art Supply and owner Lois Stone. Stone Art Supply is a fine art drafting and supplies store located here in Chicago. Owner Lois Stone wants to give back by “offering art classes for children and adults, especially as a way of dealing with trauma!”
Next on our list is GILDA Designer Thrift Boutique and owner Gilda Norris. GILDA is a boutique shop here in Chicago offering an eclectic mix of women's and men's clothing, home decor & art. Gilda wants to give back to the community by “being an open door to the youth and employing people from the community. [She] would also like to give entrepreneurs and artists a space to display their work.”
We’d also like to shoutout People Matter volunteer Jamie Marcell, an artist, logo designer and animator based here in Chicago. Jamie wants to give back to the community by “donating to start up black businesses.” You can check out his work on his website here.
